About Centro Historico

The Centro Historico is the beating heart of Cusco, wrapping the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and Qorikancha in a maze of cobbled streets built on Inca foundations. It is the most touristed quarter in the southern Andes, alive with restaurants, agencies, boutique hotels and year-round visitor flows that make it Peru's premier short-term-rental market. Heritage protection keeps supply tight and renovation slow, preserving the district's character but raising holding costs. For investors, the appeal is yield: well-located casonas and apartments adapted for tourist lets routinely clear 8-12% gross, against roughly 6% on long-term tenancies. Entry prices run higher than the wider city, around USD 1,400-2,000 per square meter for renovated stock, but occupancy is robust outside the low season. Heritage permitting and June-August seasonality are the main risks to underwrite.
